Event Description: Walk to End Alzheimer's is something for the entire family. Face-painting and a bounce house for the kids. Paws for a Cause for the family pet and our Promise Garden to pay tribute to those who are living with or who have died as a result of Alzheimer's. The Alzheimer’s Association is dedicated to providing support and assistance to persons affected by Alzheimer’s disease and to their families and other caregivers through the chapter’s core services. Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. In the United States, an estimated 5.4 million people are living with Alzheimer’s disease, with someone developing the disease every 68 seconds. Unless a cure is found, as many as 16 million Americans will have Alzheimer’s by 2050. In Tennessee alone, it is estimated that over 409,000 caregivers provide more than 466 million hours of unpaid care—care valued at $5.6 billion. Start a Walk Team * Raise funds to help those affected by Alzheimer’s while creating a teambuilding experience for colleagues to support the cause of a world without Alzheimer’s. Host an Alzheimer’s Lunch and Learn for Employees * Provide employees with information, education and resources on Alzheimer’s disease at a time that is convenient for those who may be currently coping with a personal connection to the disease. Volunteerism * Volunteers are needed for special events, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, program events and office projects.
