Event Description: Stones River Mall invites local shoppers to get into the spirit of Red, White and Blue by giving blood this Independence Day. The local retail shopping center has partnered with the American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive from 1-5 p.m. on Friday, July 5. Donations will take place on the Red Cross Bus, which will be parked near the mall entrance between Chuck E. Cheese and Electronic Express. “We think this is a great opportunity for residents to give back to the community, and it doesn’t cost anything,” says Melinda Hudgins Noblitt, marketing manager for Stones River Mall. “Sign up to donate blood and spend the rest of your afternoon shopping at your favorite retailers!” Blood collected locally is also used locally, according to Patti Wright, donor recruitment representative with Tennessee Valley Region of the American Red Cross. She explained how the TVR branch is the sole provider of blood products to all the hospitals in Rutherford County. “Summertime presents certain challenges for collecting blood donations because school isn’t in session and families are typically on vacation,” Wright continued. “We encourage everyone who is available and willing to consider donating the gift of life.” Please make an appointment to donate blood by visiting www.redcrossblood.org. All presenting donors will receive a free American Red Cross hat, while supplies last.
