Event Description:
Third annual Fiber in the Boro, Middle Tennessee’s Fall Fiber Festival, November 2, 2013 Fiber in the Boro, Murfreesboro’s biggest fiber festival, will be held on November 2nd at the UT-TSU Rutherford County Extension, Lane Agri-Park Complex. Saturday, November 2, will be a full festival day from 9 a.m to 5 p.m., with knitting, spinning, felting classes and more! We’ll have a market with more than 30 vendors. Knitters, spinners, fans of sheep and alpacas, and families alike will find something fun at the event. Craft artists will demonstrate carding fiber, spinning and weaving. Children’s activities are planned throughout the day. Lunch will be available at the Blue Porch’s booth. Festival admission is free. Classes have a fee and the schedule and registration are at www.fiberintheboro.com. This year, expert knitter, spinner and author Lynne Vogel will have brief problem-solving consultations available by registration. Vendors will sell yarn, fiber, finished textiles, fiber equipment, handmade soap and other delights. They include independent dyers who will bring all the colors of the spectrum, alpaca farmers, felters, knitting shops, silk dyers and more. A complete list of vendors and their websites can be found at www.fiberintheboro.com. Lane Agri-Park is at 315 John R Rice Blvd in Murfreesboro, TN, an easy exit off I-24. Directions are on the UT-TSU Rutherford County Web Site: https://utextension.tennessee.edu/rutherford/Pages/default.aspx The festival replaces the fiber corner traditionally found at Cannonsburgh’s Harvest Days, continuing the fiber tradition in a new location on a new date.
