Event Description: The Fifth annual Wine Around the Square (WATS) is a progressive wine-tasting, food sampling and music event outdoors around the historic downtown Square in Murfreesboro. This major community event is held on a crisp fall evening in the heart of our downtown for the entire community. WATS is a casual, fun, “hip” evening for all ages, and benefits Power of Pink, a Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation program offering screening mammograms and breast cancer diagnostic treatment and education to Rutherford County women who are uninsured, underinsured or indigent. All funds raised for this event go directly to providing mammograms and other diagnostic tests for Rutherford County women who are uninsured and underinsured. In FY 2015, 500 mammograms were provided to Rutherford County women. No event costs are taken out of the funds raised; event costs are either donated or provided by Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. In addition, proceeds fund $15,000 for the Saint Thomas Health and Susan G. Komen/Power of Pink “Our Mission in Motion” mobile mammography coach and $15,000 annually of a nurse navigator’s salary at the Center for Breast Health. Regular event tickets are $60 per person and include all wine and food stations, and one-half off the ticket price of the Late Party that begins at The Alley on Main at 9 p.m. VIP tickets are $250 and include the Main Event plus the VIP party at Daffodilly Designs from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and the Late Party that begins at The Alley on Main at 9 p.m. Buy all tickets at winearoundthesquare.org.
