Event Description: EmpowerTN, Middle Tennessee’s Center for Independent Living, would like to invite all people with disabilities in Rutherford County to share their perspective in a conversation focused on promoting independent living in the community. EmpowerTN’s mission is to “promote opportunities for people with disabilities to strive for greater independence”. We want to better understand what services and supports individuals with disabilities are currently accessing, what their goals are for independent living, and what supports and services they need to reach those goals. While we want the perspectives of individuals with disabilities to shape the conversation, we realize that some individuals may have communication difficulties. We would be delighted to have family members or support staff come with individuals to lend their voice on what is important to the person they support. Other stakeholders are welcome to join us to provide support or to assist with event logistics. Also, we ask that you send this invitation on to two others you think might be interested in attending. So, if you’re a person with a disability, please join us in the conversation. If you’re not a person with a disability but want to be involved, please lend us your support at the event!
