Event Description:
The first Fiber in the Boro festival will be held on October 29th at UT-TSU Rutherford County Extension, Lane Agri-Park Complex in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Knitters, spinners, and other fans of the textile arts will gather from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on that Saturday for a fibery good time. Families will also find something to enjoy – an agility llama, sheep and more! Local artists will be doing a “fleece to shawl” during the day and others will demonstrate carding fiber, spinning and weaving. The festival admission is free. More than thirty businesses will sell yarn, fiber, finished textiles, fiber equipment, handmade soap and other delights. Vendors include independent dyers (yarnies) who will bring all the colors of the spectrum, alpaca and llama farmers, knitting shops, silk dyers and more. A complete list of vendors and their websites can be found at www.fiberintheboro.com. Fiber in the Boro will also offer 10 classes on Saturday (for a fee) in textile skills such as weaving, spinning, knitting, crocheting and felting. The classes are from two to three hours long. Registration is available now on the festival website. Lane Agri-Park at 315 John R Rice Blvd in Murfreesboro, TN easy exit off I-24. Directions are on the UT-TSU Rutherford County Web Site: https://utextension.tennessee.edu/rutherford/Pages/default.aspx The festival replaces the fiber corner traditionally found at Cannonsburgh’s Harvest Days, continuing the fiber tradition in a new location on a new date.
